The first Electronic Warrant System in the United States was created in March 1998 on Palatine’s EWI (Electronic Warrant Interchange), the original version of the anywhere warrant application in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Since then, EWI and anywhere warrants have generated over two million arrests and search warrants throughout the country. The warrant can be issued remotely and conveniently via an encrypted, secure link over the Internet.
